Sacramento Un-Welcomes Bush
Over 2000 protesters rolled out the unwelcome mat for Bush’s cynical photo opportunity/Earth Day visit to the Fuel Cell Partnership (FCP) facility in West Sacramento today.

The mass demonstration was organized and co-sponsored by Military Families Speak Out (Capital Region), Sacramento for Democracy, Sacramento Peace Action, Davis and Sacramento Code Pink, Stephen and Virginia Pearcy, and Grandmothers for Peace, Impeach Bush and ANSWER, among others.

Anti-war and immigrants’ rights groups, political organizations, and ordinary citizens from all over Northern California voiced their opposition to Bush and his outlaw regime. A coalition of veterans and military families attended, including Pat and Carly Sheehan, father and sister of Casey Sheehan, killed in Iraq in April 2004. Family members from the Capital Region, Bay Area and Orange County chapters of Military Families Speak Out were present as were Lt. Colonel and Chaplain Richard Beach with Iraq Veterans Against the War, and George Main with Veterans for Peace. Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink, arrived with fright-masked “George Bush” and “Condoleezza Rice.”
