About this Chapter

On August 16, 2005, Laurie Loving's son was deployed to Iraq. The next day, while participating in the Cindy Sheehan candlelight vigil in Davis, CA, Laurie and her husband Russell Loving decided to form a local chapter of Military Families Speak Out. They both believed in the message of MFSO - Support our troops! Bring them home NOW! Take care of them when they get here!

In the first two months after MFSO Capital Region was formed, the numbers have grown to over 20 MFSO members and 40 supporters. Each month new families join as members and supporters.

MFSO Capital Region has united with other military organizations that opposes the war in Iraq. We work closely with Gold Start Families for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against The War, and Veterans for Peace.

The Capital Region chapter serves the Yolo, Sacramento and neighboring counties of central and northern California. MFSO Capital Region is seeking like-minded people both in terms of a support group and for political action. Even if you may not want to participate in political activities, we are here to provide you with support. If you want to do something to end this war, we will give you a voice.

If you share our views, feel conflicted, or sense a shift in your perspective, please come to our meetings or contact us at mfsocap@dcn.org or (530) 756-7335.
